Getting the Tree

As I was making room on my camera for pictures of the kids on Christmas morning, I found this picture taken by my wife two weeks ago as we went to cut our tree. Sadly, the snow in this picture is gone now and it looks as if we will have a green, or more accurately a mucky wet brown Christmas.

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

Winter Blues

I am loath to consider the next three months of snow and cold. I'm not sure why I live in NW PA, other than the fact that I was born and raised here...my family is here... my wife and I built a house here...I know here...

Other than that I would leave tomorrow..or the next day.

Winter Is Here

Winter has arrived in all its glory

On Death

There comes a day when time stands still. The pause in life we’ve wished for has finally shown its face. When all the moving parts have stopped we are forced to look around, to view the dormant pieces that once we called our life. One of two emotions will overtake our soul; enjoyment of the landscape we’ve created or sorrow at the chaos we have left behind

There but for the Grace of God

There but for the Grace of God go I.

There was a time when it was all cut and dried. Every question had an answer; one right one wrong. Suddenly, without warning “ambiguity,” The constants I had come to rely on have melted and blurred their edges. Wrong and right have given way to good, better, and best. There are no easy answers. The difference between then and now isn’t in the circumstances but rather in the perception. The further I go the more diverse the options…from right and wrong to an endless list of options. Every option leading to a host of others all having only one thing in common, “Reverse is not an option.”

Left Behind

At one time I’m sure this church was one of the tallest structures in Harrisburg Pennsylvania. Progress has left it in shadows, but from the top of the Crown Plaza there is an angle that it still seems tall.
